What Is Back Pain?

Back pain is a very common problem and will affect many of us at some point during our lives. It occurs anywhere along the spine, but it is most often felt in the lower back. This pain can be classified into two main types: acute and chronic. Acute back pain is short-term and lasts for a few days to a few weeks, typically resulting from an injury, muscle strain, or lifting something heavy. In contrast, chronic back pain persists for 12 weeks or longer, even after the initial injury or underlying cause has been treated. The good news is that in most cases it isn’t an irreversible problem, and it can be successfully defeated with physical therapy. What Are The symptoms of Back Pain?

Back pain manifests through a variety of symptoms that can significantly impact daily life. One of the most common symptoms is a dull, aching sensation in the lower back. This type of pain can sometimes extend to the buttocks, thighs, and even down to the feet, indicating potential nerve involvement.

Another symptom is sharp, shooting pain that can radiate from the back to other parts of the body. This is often experienced in conditions such as sciatica, where the pain travels along the path of the sciatic nerve. Muscle spasms and tightness in the lower back, hips, and pelvis are also frequent symptoms, often causing stiffness and difficulty in moving or standing up straight.
